For perceived best flavor (and my own enjoyment) I usually boil water in a kettle and brew my coffee within a French press. For convenience, or when I am in a hurry, I use 1 of 2 different pod/capsule based systems depending on the type of drink I want. (Nespresso vs. Keurig)
Based on the data below the (originally) from Nespresso website, 2 Roma cups would equal about a cup of coffee regarding caffeine content.
(see "How much caffeine is in each Nespresso capsule?")
- Espresso (1.35 oz/40 ml) --> around 55-65 mg of caffeine
Lungo (3.75 oz/110 ml) --> around 77-89 mg of caffeine
- Espresso decaffeinato (1.35 oz/40 ml) --> less than 0.005 mg of caffeine
- Lungo decaffeinato (3.75 oz/110 ml) --> less than 0.008 mg of caffeine
According to the almighty Google, Starbucks espresso shots are about 75 mg per shot (Dopio is two shots in Starbucks land). To get a "single shot" of caffeine in your morning cup you will need to use one of the Nespresso Lungo brands.
I share this with you in case you ever wonder how many Nespresso cups it would take to replicate your visit to Starbucks, CBTL, Petes, or any of the other corporate coffee chains.
